Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream

The Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream (SWM) is focused on filling job shortages for Manitoba employers. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program MPNP may selects internationally trained and experienced workers who have earned the skills needed for the local labour market. The MPNP nominates qualified eligible applicants to receive Canadian permanent resident PR visas to settle and work in Manitoba. Candidates with strong labour market attachments to Manitoba employers remain a priority.

There will be two pathways:

Manitoba Work Experience Pathway

Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway

The Manitoba Work Experience Pathway MWEP is for applicants currently working in Manitoba with a valid temporary work permits (Temporary Foreign Workers, international student graduates from other provinces or Manitoba graduates) not working in jobs published on the In-demand Occupations list.

The Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway EDRP is for international applicants with valid job offers from pre-approved Manitoba employers.

Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream

To be eligible under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream, you must meet all of the minimum requirements. There are no scoring points for these criteria. Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream applicants are assessed as pass or fail.

Manitoba Work Experience Pathway

This Manitoba Work Experience Pathway is for qualified applicants currently working in Manitoba with a valid temporary work permits WP, including:

  1. Temporary Foreign Workers on a valid work permit supported by LMIA, LMIA-exempt and MPNP-supported work permits;
  2. Out of province graduates International Students from other provinces, AND;
  3. International Students who graduated from Manitoba and working in jobs not on Manitoba’s published in-demand occupations list.

Work Experience in Manitoba and Current Employment in Manitoba

  • Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) on Manitoba’s published in-demand occupations jobs list AND who have worked for a minimum of six 6 months in Manitoba,

OR

  • International Students: Out-of-Province Graduates in occupations on Manitoba’s published in-demand occupations jobs list AND who have worked for a minimum of 12 months in Manitoba in jobs related to their field of study,

OR

  • Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW) in occupations not on Manitoba’s published In-Demand Occupations job list AND who have worked a minimum of 12 months in Manitoba with a valid work permit supported by an LMIA valid job offer or LMIA exempt valid work permit;

OR

International Students: Manitoba Graduates in occupations not on Manitoba’s published in-demand Occupations jobs list AND who have worked a minimum of 12 months in Manitoba.

Additional Employment Requirements

You must be residing and working in MB at the time of application;

AND

You must have a long-term, permanent full-time job offer that meets Manitoba employment and the prevailing wage for the occupation and work location where the TFW will be employed for the occupation;

AND

Your Employer must be a registered commercial business that has been operating in Manitoba MB for at least the three years immediately preceding the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream application;

AND

Your working conditions consistent to those of Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada;

AND

Your position cannot be home-based, part-time, temporary, seasonal, or on commission-based.

Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream Adaptability requirement

You must demonstrate the ability, willingness and intent to reside in Manitoba

 

Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream Age requirement

Eligible applicant must be between the age of 21 and 45

 

Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream Education requirement

You must have post-secondary education from Manitoba or international out of province students and or training related to job offer occupation being recruited or identified by recruiting employer.

If the position being offered requires the applicant a specific licensure or certification in order to perform your job duties, you must apply to the regulatory body to have their qualifications and skills assessed and or pass required examination.

Applicants with jobs in Manitoba that fall under NOC C or D occupations, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program MPNP may select individuals with no post-secondary education, providing they possess the required job training according to employer requirements and NOC description.

Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream Official Languages Proficiency requirement

The minimum official English or French language proficiency is based on the assessed NOC:

For Regulated Occupations the minimum official language proficiency is Canadian Language Benchmark CLB NCLC 7

for Compulsory Trades the minimum official language proficiency is CLB NCLC 6

For all other NOC 0, A, or B occupations the minimum official language proficiency is CLB NCLC 5

For semi-skilled occupations NOC C or D the minimum official language proficiency is CLB NCLC 4

You must demonstrate the ability and intent to reside in Manitoba
